SR 519S Seattle Intermodal Access - Seattle, Wash.
The State Route 519 is a crucial connection from I-5 and I-90 to the waterfront for cars and freight. Kiewit Pacific Co., a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, was awarded the $66 million project because of price as well as achieving the highest technical score by submitting a construction plan that shaves nearly a year off the original schedule.
The project will rechannel, widen and improve the First Avenue and South Atlantic Street intersection in Seattle. The team will construct an elevated ramp that connects westbound I-90 to the South Atlantic Street overpass and rechannel South Royal Brougham Way Railroad Overpass between Fourth Avenue South and First Avenue South.
In addition, the team will close the at-grade Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad crossing on South Royal Brougham Way and construct a grade separating structure that will cross over the BNSF railroad tracks and connect Third Avenue South to South Royal Brougham Way Railroad Overpass.
